Defeated at every conflict, driven through New Jersey into Delaware, Washington was at the edge of defeat. In less than two weeks, the recruits would finish their terms and go home for spring planting. Most of the Continental Army would be gone and the struggle for freedom would be lost. The weather was terrible. What could he do? Washington plans a foolish, impossible attack.
